CVS Trip – A Little Disappointing

First of all, let me just remind you, my dear reader, that I live in New Jersey – the state known for traffic and attitude.

What exit? Ha Ha – Not Funny – Get Outta Here!

You will see the the bad side of Cara in this post. Please don’t hold this against me.

So I went to CVS with list and coupons in hand looking forward to my trip. Overall, not bad. Biggest complaint is that my store was totally out of Soy Joy bars – grrr I wanted those bars and the $1 ECB for each one purchased.

  • Saved $19.29 taking advantage of the Sales and BOGO offers
  • Used $9.75 in MFR Coupons
  • Used $21 in CVS Coupons ($4 for signing up, $2 printable, $15 printable here)
  • Used $21 ECBs used
  • Total Savings $71.14
  • Total OOP $40.27
  • ECBs Earned $14.29

Why am I disappointed? Because the ‘Assistant Manager’ happened to be running the register I was at. First she let out a big huff when I pulled out all my coupons and ECBs as if I was keeping her from something important. Then, she refused to scan the other CVS coupons that I had which would have saved me another $12 (the $5, $4 and $3 printable coupons). This is the same store I have been shopping at FOREVER and have used multiple CVS coupons before, as long as they meet the requirements.

She wouldn’t budge, and though I was tempted to just have her void the entire order and leave, I needed the Huggies. Plus at this point, little man was NOT happy sitting still for this extended period of time. So I say in typical Jersey attitude to her “Whatever” and pay her.

Then I ask her when the store expects more Soy Joy Bars to come in and she asks me “Why?”. Are you kidding? Who are YOU to ask me why? My response was again full of attitude, but with a smile: “Because I asked you and I’m your customer, so why don’t you do your job and answer me”. (Sorry reader, but when someone gets an attitude with me, especially when it’s really not necessary, I break out my ‘Jersey Tude’!). Well, she just said “I don’t know”. So I just left, throwing over my shoulder “Have a nice day”.

Since I have an appointment in the area tomorrow, I will be returning with all my receipts and coupons to speak with another manager about the situation. I have my last few receipts to prove that I have indeed used multiple printable CVS coupons before (as long as the current total amount due met the guidelines of the coupon). If nothing else, I will get clarification on the coupon policy at my store. And I will get some satisfaction by letting them know about my ‘run-in’ with the other girl.

I don’t have a very high tolerance towards people that get an attitude with me either. But for some reason it really rubs me the wrong way when it’s not just a cashier but a manager.

I am shocked, appalled, and couldn’t possibly read you ever again. It happens, no one here’s gonna hold it against you. Unless, of course, the assistant manager is one of your readers…

    Have a nice day! ;)

  3. Cara says:

oh Saucy, leave it to you to make me smile!

  4. There is just NO customer service available anywhere! And that has changed just in the last 20 years since I was working in high school/college.

Every manager I ever had always said “the customer comes first” or “move faster to keep your line moving” but now everybody moves slow as molasses and couldn’t care less if you march out the door. When the managers exude that attitude to their workers, it’s pitiful (and I could write a book, so I’ll stop now…)
