I’m Doing The CVS Thing
In an effort to further cut corners in our spending, I’m giving the “CVS Thing” a try. I’ve been studying the CVS 101 over at MoneySavingMom’s Blog. Crystal does an excellent job in explaining how to work the CVS deals and Extra Care Bucks (ECBs). You must also read through the comments – there are nuggets of information within them!
Last week was OK – a big trip but I saved a whole bunch of money!
- Saved $68.66 taking advantage of the Sales and BOGO offers
- Used $21 in MFR Coupons
- Used $14 in CVS Coupons
- Total Savings $98.66 (Oh yeah!)
- Total OOP $74.23 (hurray)
- ECBs earned $4 (boo)
This week was a smaller trip and much more lucrative as far as the ECBs
- Saved $15.13 taking advantage of the Sales and BOGO offers
- Used $7.75 in MFR Coupons
- Used $2 in CVS Coupons
- Used $4 in ECBs
- Total Savings $28.88
- Total OOP $43.21
- ECBs earned $21.00 (thank you SoyJoy & Duracell!)
As Crystal has said, it takes a while before you start getting things free. An important thing to note is that I haven’t purchased a single thing that my family will not use – everything on the list would have been on my grocery or Walmart list within the next couple weeks. And I didn’t purchase anything for the sake of getting the ECBs.
Have you started “CVS-ing”? How are you doing? Let me know by leaving a comment and we can cheer each other on!

We need a glossary! LOL!
BOGO = Buy One Get One (either 50% off or Free)
MRF = Manufacturers
ECB = Extra Care Bucks
OOP = Out Of Pocket
We don’t have a CVS here in our area. Only a rite-aid! boo hoo!
