Monday Motivation: First Aid Kit and Medicine Cabinet
So this morning, Little Dude had the tiniest boo-boo on his hand – about the size of a pin head. But, like typical toddlers, insisted that a band aid was needed. “Band aid make it much better”.
So I go to the first aid kit and dig through the ridiculous pile of assorted sized band aids to get him the “wittle” one that he wanted. After juice and a band aid, things were settled down. But my first aid kit was driving me crazy! So I emptied the whole thing and sorted the band aids, tossed the expired ointments, and straightened up the ace bandages.
Then when I put the kit back in the cupboard, I decided to sort and purge the various pills and elixirs that were on the shelf. After another half-hour, I had tossed all expired medicines and started a shopping list to replace the necessities. The rule of thumb I followed was anything over a year old, or I couldn’t remember when I used it last, it was tossed.
When was the last time you purged your medicines? It was a while for me. I tossed a cough syrup that expired 10/07. When was the last time you restocked your first aid kit?
This week, take the time to clean and purge your first aid kit and your medicines. Here is a guide on how to put together your first aid kit. And here is a guide on over-the-counter medicines: expiration, how and what to use, etc.
