Not So Wordless Wednesday

Well today we had our final Preemie Special Care Follow-up evaluation. We graduated! What that means is he met the standards of the pediatrician, pediatric neurologist, physical therapist, speech therapist, audiologist, pediatric ophthalmologist and special care social worker. He is physically and developmentally right on target. He is everything that a soon-to-be-3-year-old is supposed to be. He’s average!

Since being born 12 weeks early, Little Man has had an adjusted age. That means, expectations of him were 3 months younger than he actually was. During the first few years, a month is a big difference in development. At first, we went to evals every three months then moved to every six months. Each time we saw all the specialists listed above. And it would take HOURS.

But now no more adjusted age and no more evaluations! Whoo hoo! And the last medical bill/insurance statement related to his prematurity. At last calculation, his total was up to $968,000.00. Even with this latest visit, he’ll be short of $1Million. But looking at the picture of him modeling his new boots, I think he’s worth every penny!
