This Week’s Focus: Time Management

backtobasics 1 This Weeks Focus: Time Management

My husband is switching shifts at work, yet again. Starting Monday, he will be working 2am to 10am-ish. Even though I am a work-at-home-mom, hubby switching shifts throws off the entire routine of the house – from the animals to the toddler, from nap time to dinner time. In order to prevent chaos occurring (aka: cranky child and hubby) I need to have a plan. I need to manage our time appropriatley.

What makes up “good time management?”  People with good time management skills can differentiate between good and poor uses of time.  They know which activities to spend their time on, and which activities to postpone. While these skills do come naturally to some people, they can also be learned.

There are many benefits to knowing how to manage your time effectively. When you are able to get your tasks completed in the time you allowed, you will feel less stressed and be able to lead a more balanced life.

Even though a few weeks ago we focused on using our calendars, and we’ve focused on creating routines for ourselves, this is different. Time management is about putting it all together. This week I’ll give you the tips, tricks and resources to get your time managed.

First, listen to this week’s Household Helper Talk Show – it’s about creating and using effective to do lists.  And I’ve posted more information on my home page as well.

Time management is becoming an ever growing topic these days. But before our lists get too long, I’d like to suggest a password manager to ‘Check Passwords Off Your To Do List’:

The average person has over 25 accounts to manage? That in itself is a time-management nightmare!
