As I mentioned on my Talk Show, I went over budget with my groceries in January. I spent about $126 per week, which includes groceries, toiletries, cleaning supplies, paper products and pet supplies and food. I want to be under $100 per week. So this week and the rest of the month, I’m going to laser focus on saving money on my groceries. How you ask…
1. This week I’m going to plan my meals on what I already have in the house – ingredients found in my pantry, fridge and freezer. The only items I will need to go out and purchase are fresh fruit, bread, milk, sliced cheese and kitty litter (darn cats – LOL)
2. I’m skipping CVS this week – there is nothing in the circular especially fantastic that I need or want.
3. I’ll avoid Target and Walmart this week as well – I’m plenty stocked on diapers, toilet paper and cleaning supplies.
I find that whenever I do a week of using what I have cooking, it set’s my meal planning and grocery shopping straight. Kind of like when you reboot your computer. I’ll post my Menu Plan next.
Instead of a mission this week I’m giving you a challenge: Save 20% on your next grocery shopping trip. You can do this by using what you have already in your pantry, fridge and freezer. Then shop for what you need using your sale circular and coupons. If you’ve already done your shopping for this week, then do this next week. I’ll leave the challenge open through next week. I’m really interested to find out how you all do! Come back and post a comment and let me know how it goes!
