Aprons – I Need One!

housewife with mop Aprons I Need One!I have two aprons, but I don’t really use them. Why? Because they are so darn cute I don’t want to! I use them as decoration. Plus, when they are hung in my kitchen, they hide a major flaw in my wall – LOL!

But seriously, The Household Helper needs an apron! I cook, clean and garden on a daily basis. I should be using an apron to 1) protect my clothes and 2) to have pockets for my tools.

I did some looking online and there are a lot of crafty, retro and totally cute aprons for sale. But for $30 to $40 each, I can’t justify spending that much money right now. So I searched for free patterns to make my own apron.

Here are three free apron patterns even I can make!

I’m sure I can make this super easy and super cute no-sew jeans apron. I love this one especially because it’s no-sew. I think I’m going to try this using a pair of hubby’s old carpenter jeans – lots of pockets and loops!

This apron made from two cloth napkins looks easy too. Plus,  cloth napkins are made for use so it will be durable and washable. And it’s totally customizable (I’m thinking leopard print).

Now, this clean sweep apron, though not full length, looks like a winner. I can just imagine cleaning or gardening without carrying around a caddy! This particular pattern is a little more complicated, but looks like it’s a lot of straight lines – even I can sew straight lines.

I’ll let you know how I do making my own apron. I’ll even post pictures if they turn out ok.

If you’re looking for an apron sewing pattern, here’s a list of 56 free apron patterns. And let me know if you make aprons too – or if you’re going to give it a try like me!

Cool!! I love that you can recycle old jeans, what a great idea! And that will work with kids jeans too – my daughter is always looking to help me and my aprons are just too big for her. Thanks for sharing!
